Polypropylene Putting Green
Because Polypropylene is a form of plastic, this turf will require some sand-fill to perform well. Without sand, the turf cannot stand upright and the fibers can become matted down. Please note that there is a 4 to 6 week break-in period for polypropylene turf. This can be accelerated by rolling or light plate tamping.
Adding sand-fill does require periodic maintenance as sand filled greens will become hard over time. This product requires 4-12 pounds of sand per square foot and must be brushed and re-filled if the sand becomes compacted or washed away.
Putting on a sand-filled turf has one drawback. The ball will roll faster with the grain than against the grain. This is a common problem with any polypropylene product. Properly sand-filled turf is an excellent surface for receiving long approach shots, as the sand fill helps to disperse the energy of a ball when hit into a green from any significant distance.
