Step 2 - Clear area for sub-base
Clear the designated putting green area by removing the top soil of the
ground. This may include your grass and various other plants. If possible,
try to recycle your grass by cutting out 2 foot wide strips. By doing
so, you could re-use the grass when landscaping the edges of your putting
green. Standard garden tools will suffice for creating the appropriate
depth of your sub-base.
For properties that contain a lot of foliage, consider using a landscaping
retarder which can be found at any home improvement store. To avoid an
extreme settling of your soil, use the techniques described in our booklet.
IMPORTANT TIP: If you live in a newly developed property,
do not forget that the lot may have been back-filled at some point. In
that case, you may need to give a considerable amount of time to allow
the land to settle.
